Updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, PEARS® helps healthcare providers develop the knowledge and skills needed for emergency evaluation and treatment of seriously ill infants and children.
PEARS teaches providers how to recognize respiratory distress, shock and cardiac arrest, and provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until the child is transferred to an advanced life support provider. The goal of PEARS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.
PEARS is for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children.
Course content includes:
- Pediatric assessment
- Assessment and management of respiratory problems
- Recognition and management of shock
- Identification and management of cardiac arrest
- Resuscitation team concept
Course requires approximately 1 day – 7 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.

***Cancellation Policy : If we have to cancel a class for any reason we will reschedule a new class immediately. For those who can’t attend the new class date, full refunds will be available and a spot can be held for you in a future class. If you fail to attend your scheduled class without notice there will be NO refunds. Student cancellation has to be within a week before class to receive a full refund and the student will be able to have a seat in the next class. If cancellation is less than a week in advance the student will be charged a cancellation fee of $50 and may still have a seat in the next class at full price.
